Laser Resurfacing: C02 lasers, Erbium lasers, or combinations of
these will resurface the skin on the face to restore a healthy glow and
nicely textured skin. The laser will removed fine lines and greatly
diminish deeper ones. The laser delivers busts of light that cause the
underlying collagen to contract and remodel while removing the damaged
surface skin. Recovery time varies with the type of laser used and the
extent of results needed. Erbium laser resurfacing has much quicker
recovery times, but less effects on the deeper wrinkles. After
resurfacing with a CO2 lasers (used to obtain results in areas of deeper
wrinkles) may take 10 to 14 days for the initial healing, followed by a
prolonged period of pink skin that may last up to 3 to 6 months in
people. Make-up may be worn after the first week or two. The skin will
need to be diligently treated for a period before and after the
resurfacing to help obtain the best results possible.
